Oreo Building aka Westinghouse Electric - Cleveland, OH

One of our very favorite buildings in Cleveland. We admired this building from afar for a while before finding a way in. On the day that we decided to explore it we had the idea that it would be fun to bring Oreo Cookies and some milk and Dixie cups with us and have a picnic of Oeros and milk. Well after getting into the building we forgot all about our picnic and focused on seeing as much of this huge wonderful building as we could. It wasn't until our second trip to this building that we were able to have our Oreos, and ever since then we have referred to this place as the 'Oreo Building'.

In actuality this is the Westinghouse Electric building. One of two in the cleveland area. After Westinghouse left the building it was divided into sections to house several different light manufacturing companies and also a towing company.

Today this building is in bad shape. Scrappers have torn the place apart and it looks like it probably wont be standing much longer. It will either be torn down or will end up tearing itself down.

The inside of this building is relatively empty other than the pitch black basement levels which are littered with all sorts of stuff including a fork lift, tires by the hundreds, and a room full of old newspapers. The upper floors are mostly just large open rooms with mushroom columns. It is a great place to wander around in but be careful because it is in a terrible neighborhood and is currently wide open to anyone who cares to wander in.
