Mason School - Akron, OH

I've been here twice, but only got in once. This school is sealed up tight and alarmed, but if you're in the right place at the right time and have decent people skills, you can talk your way into just about anywhere. A few years ago the Akron Board of Education went on a killing spree. They demolished at least half a dozen beautiful old school buildings in less than six months. This school was reportedly on the chopping block but for some reason it seems to have been spared, for now at least (I think, haven't actually been by here in a while). I've been in plenty of abandoned schools, most of which are nearing a hundred years old, which means beautiful woodwork and built in cabinetry, and other architectural details unseen in modern construction, however this school goes beyond that. The architecture and woodwork here is magnificent to say the least. It would be a crime to let this place fall victim to the wrecking ball. Someone should at least salvage as much as they can before sending the whole place to landfill.
